It doesn’t take a genius to know the importance of a good delay pedal. Just use your brain.
The limited run MotherBrain Analog Delay is the latest creation from the always unpredictable Dr. No Effects. The hand crafted pedal is an excellent sonic tool for guitarists, bass players, keyboards and vocal.
The MotherBrain is an insanely high-end quality delay that produces classic, classy tones. With three easy-to-adjust functions, it’s easy to achieve rockabilly slapback or insane oscillation — just grab hold of a cerebrum, dial in, and you’re ready to go. Present runs your signal from “Wet” to “Dry.” Insanity sets your delay time. Memory locks in your feedback for “Long Term” or “Short Term.” When the MotherBrain is engaged, it has no influence on the actual send through signal, that stays at the same level and clarity as your original signal. To achieve maximum results, Dr. No suggests using as the last effect in your pedal chain.
As is the case with all Dr. No Effects, you don’t have to be a brain surgeon to dig into the MotherBrain. It’s user-friendly, simple, and easy to use. All a player needs is a 9-volt battery and they’re on their way to robust tone.
From the circuit to the silkscreened housing, custom brain knobs, box, and brain keychain, The MotherBrain is entirely handmade and built to last a lifetime. It’s also a limited edition: only 350 are available, each one signed and numbered by Dr. No.

“JARED JAMES NICHOLS” EUROPEAN TOUR STARTS 25th MAY 2016
NEW SINGLE AND OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO: “DON’T YOU TRY”
DIGITALLY RELEASED 3rd JUNE 2016
Following hot on the heels of 2015’s Jared James Nichol’s debut album, Old Glory and the Wild Revival, and the follow-up 2015 tour EP Highwayman, the Wisconsin-bred guitar gunslinger returns to Europe this month for a series of incendiary live concerts supporting Zakk Wylde in May and June, followed by an extensive October UK tour supporting legendary blues guitarist Walter Trout. Click here for the official press page announcement and new photos - www.noblepr.co.uk/Press_Releases/jaredjamesnichols/2016tour.htm.
To coincide with Jared’s return to the European stage, Listenable Records will release the Highwayman EP as an exclusive limited edition orange coloured 10 inch vinyl (500 copies).
On June 3rd, Jared will digitally release a brand new single, Don’t You Try, accompanied by an official music video with a homage to the bikers of the 60s and 70s. “We’re really excited about the brand new kick-ass single,” says Jared. “I'm positive it’ll kick-start the shows into high gear.”
Written by Jared and producer/engineer Anthony Perry Jr., Don’t You Try was recorded at Swing House & Unison Music Group Studio’s in LA, and will appear on Jared’s next album in spring 2017. Watch the official video for Don’t You Try
“The song’s about belief,” reflects Jared. “It’s about what you're told when you're young and how it has an impression on you. How strong other people's words can be. How there’s always something in the back of your mind, chasing you. At the end of the day, you have to believe in what you want.”

The PRS McCarty 594 is a vintage-inspired instrument that is at once incredibly familiar and effortlessly playable. Whether you are looking for rich, authentic, vintage humbucking tones or nuanced, sweet singlecoil sounds, the McCarty 594 can seamlessly master both sonic territories thanks to the 58/15 LT pickups and push/pull coil taps on the tone controls. The electronics layout, a few key specifications, and PRS craftsmanship combine in the McCarty 594 to create an instrument that plays in tune, is intonated the entire length of the neck, and feels like a guitar that you’ve been playing forever.
“The 594 is the best new guitar I've played in years. It has a vintage heart and soul but without the technical limitations that usually come along with an old instrument. What good is an old guitar if you can't get all that feel out of the upper frets, or the intonation is off? To hear that old PAF sound but be able to articulate the notes in a way that only modern manufacturing could allow is so exciting.” - John Mayer
A few key specifications that contribute to the McCarty 594’s tone and feel are:
- A 24.594” scale length, just slightly longer than 24.5” and where the model gets its name.
- 58/15 LT pickups. LT, meaning low turns, which give the guitar a warm, clear tone.
- 2 volume and 2 tone controls positioned so players can roll off both volume knobs at the same time.
- The added versatility of push/pull coil taps for each pickup for more tonal options
- A new Pattern Vintage neck carve, which shares the same width measurements as PRS’s Pattern neck but is slightly thicker front to back and features an asymmetrical carve with a little less meat on the treble side and a little more meat on the bass side of the neck.
- Tweaked Phase III tuners that have an added set screw that pulls the tuner’s shaft, gear, and worm together (but take the tuner button out of play) to promote tone transfer from the string directly into the guitar itself with as little energy as possible begin detracted.
Specifications include figured maple top, mahogany back, 22 Fret Pattern Vintage mahogany neck, rosewood with binding fingerboard, Bird fingerboard inlays, PRS 2-piece stoptail bridge with tweaked Phase III locking tuners, 58/15 LT treble and bass pickups, two volume, two push/pull tone controls with a 3-way toggle pickup switch on the upper bout.
"It's engineered beautifully and really lives up to the idea of getting the best attributes of an old instrument, I love the two volume/two tone layout, while still keeping the overall feel of a PRS. The pickups sound great and really have the vibe of old PAF's that aren't wound too hot," said Jimmy Herring of Widespread Panic
The McCarty family of instruments from PRS is named after Paul’s longtime friend and mentor, Ted McCarty, who was president of Gibson during the “golden era” of guitar making. Ted McCarty left an enduring legacy that serves as an inspiration to guitar makers and musicians worldwide. The McCarty 594 pays homage to this legendary man and traditional vintage tones.

Time for a new series of interviews and performances and this time we delve into the GI back issues for this excellent interview with Jon Gomm.
Make sure you check out our latest magazine here http://bit.ly/GuitarInteractive
Jon Gomm, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire in the UK, is an acoustic singer-songwriter with a revolutionary virtuoso guitar style, where he uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, basslines and twisting melodies all at the same time. The emphasis is still on the soulful vocals and songwriting, and his original material is influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead.
His live shows combine deeply personal performances and a natural wit, with a once seen, never forgotten two-handed guitar style, both physical and complex, producing sounds people can barely believe are coming from a humble acoustic guitar.
Jon first laid his hands on a guitar at the age of two (actually it was a ukulele - his parents couldn’t find a guitar small enough). He wrote his first song at the age of six, and was soon accompanying his father, a music critic, to gigs in his hometown of Blackpool. Touring musicians would often stay at the Gomm household on the understanding Jon would get a guitar lesson, meaning he had one-to-one instruction from such blues legends as BB King and Jack Bruce of Cream.

It's been about 11,500 Days since Yngwie Malmsteen released this track in Japan as part of the the tour de force, Rising Force... a lot of notes have gone by since then, but this track never fails to impress me. So nice to see Ulisses Miyazawa handle the track with aplomb.
