Guitarist Daisuke KUNITA was born in Sapporo, Japan, in 1980. He took his first classical piano lesson at age of eight, then started to play guitar when he was seventeen. In 1999, he moved to the United States of America to enter the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Since graduating, he had been playing around the Boston area and working at Berklee as a staff. Back in Japan in the year 2005, he decided to record his first album, today issued as a joint-venture between the Musea and Poseidon labels. "Fuzzy Logic" (2007) surely wouldn't have been badly received, if it was played by such famous guitar-heroes as Joe SATRIANI ou Steve VAI, without even mentioning Ritchie BLACKMORE or Jimmy PAGE. These eight instrumental tracks rock, with sharp riffs and incredible virtuosity shining through. Let's notice the powerful Jimi HENDRIX-like opening to know what we're talking about. That said, Daisuke KUNITA also seems to have grown up with jazz-rock fusion: listen to these Allan HOLDSWORTH-like sequences and this impeckable technique, making this CD a captivating and varied piece of work. Structured around a power-trio with six-strings at the forefront, the instrumentation may also include piano or keyboards notes, without forgetting alto saxophone on "Acid Approach". Recommended !

So you decided to play electric guitar. Once you get a guitar and an amp, the next step is to explore effects. Effects pedals can be separated into groups based on their functions. Understanding the different pedal groups is the key to getting the best sound when chaining them together. The largest pedal group is probably overdrives and distortions, and BOSS currently makes 16 different guitar effects pedals in this category.

Steve Hillage, the celebrated progressive rock guitarist, singer/songwriter, and producer, was awarded the “Visionary” Award at the Progressive Music Awards 2013 at Kew Gardens, West London, on Tuesday 3rd September. The award was presented to Hillage by author/actor/comedian Bill Oddie (The Goodies).
The Visionary Award is about the spirit of independence and for those who make their own niche in a progressive direction. From the psychedelic anthems from GONG to the futuristic dance rhythms of the ambient techno duo SYSTEM 7, Steve Hillage is one of the most unique guitarists the world has ever seen. Experimental and groundbreaking throughout his career, the Canterbury-affiliated icon is still much sampled and admired today.
Hillage continues to push the envelope with new project ROVO and SYSTEM 7 - the perfect synergetic between techno and Japan’s leading prog rock band ROVO, whose collaborative new album “Phoenix Rising”is released on Monday 23rd September. They will perform two special concerts at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire and Manchester Ritz in March 2014.
Not many people know that Steve was hugely instrumental in suggesting to and persuading Michael Eavis at Glastonbury Festival to add the dance stage in 1995. Received enthusiastically by the audience from day one, this signalled a sea change in the direction of music.

[Shreddelicious] 1 When did you start playing guitar?
I had the big chance to have a few useful guitar lessons with Rick Graham too when he lived in France. In 2006, I was admitted into the Music Academy International, a famous European school . Looking back, I think it was the best year of my life, even If I still have some lack of sleep left over from this period!
A I had a complete year of music lessons with the best teachers and musicians we have in France players such as Christophe Godin, Kermheat, Hassan Hajdi, Sylvain Courtney, Jean Claude Rapin, Manu Livertout, Yannick Robert.
