I composed this tune using my contemporary classical guitar and rock-jazz-fusion influences, exploring a polyphonique-voicing right hand technique (almost never used in electric guitar) combined with tradicional guitar techniques, always keeping the melody above everything. The rhythm is 4/4 almost all the time, I just like to change accents ;-)
I recorded this in McGill Studios (Montreal, Canada) and the bass and drums were recorded in Mexico city.
I hope you enjoy!

Rob Chappers: 7 vs 8 vs 9 String Challenge with Schecter Guitars

With several guitar brands making 7 & 8 string guitars, and one or two even making 9 string guitars, we thought we'd try to explain the main differences in tone & feel between these types of guitar.

We choose to use the Schecter range, but do check out Ibanez too as they also have a 7, 8 & 9 string guitar range.

Eric Maldonado: Hands To The Sky - original composition - promo video

Hands To The Sky • Eric Maldonado (Instrumental Guitar)
I think this is the first full original song I've ever uploaded to YouTube. Crazy to think about! Well, regardless of how long it took to finally get one up, I'm happy to share my music with you now. This one's called Hands To The Sky.

Influence for this one is all over the place. Musically, guitarists like Neil Zaza, Neal Schon, and Andy Timmons/artists like Chris Tomlin, Kristian Stanfill and the Passion stuff come to mind. On a deeper level, it's called "Hands To The Sky" which is a metaphor for praising God. I've made it a staple in my life to make every victory and loss, big or small, positive or negative, a praise to God - with my hands to the sky. Living in the moment, making the best of the situation and not letting the environment dictate me. That's something most people forget to do, so hopefully this song can be a reminder of that :) I really enjoy the chord progressions of this song, though they are quite simple. I have been thinking of doing an acoustic version only because these chords sound great when they ring out. So that might pop up sometime soon.

I played everything on this tune and programmed a fair amount of things as well. If you have any questions about any of that, just ask! :) The guitar in this video is my Fernandes Revolver Classic.

Lastly, if you would like the tab for this song, I will be releasing it once it hits 50 likes here on YouTube. So be sure to like, comment, and share to spread it around and get the tab sooner! :D

Thanks for listening! Expect at least 2 more originals this summer!

about
"This album revolved around the Character's journey towards insanity. It started off with him witnessing the powers that be turning upon against its own people. The public was in denial and underestimated the possibility that these events would continue to impact their livelihoods in years to come. Citizens resumed their daily activities unperturbed, while grief and anger were expressed by some. During his escape, the Character was captured, then was admitted to a mental institution and forced to undergo rounds of therapy. The Character was rejuvenated with a false sense of purpose in life. Howie Simon: Never See Me Cry - new single released

Howie Simon - guitarist with Alcatrazz/ Nelson/ Talisman/ Jeff Scott Soto solo band/ many other sessions - has released his 1st ever solo single NEVER SEE ME CRY, now available for digital download. The track is a cover originally recorded by the cult Buffalo, NY hard rock band Talas, which featured bass legend Billy Sheehan. All vocals/ instruments/ production were handled by Howie himself.

"I have always loved this song and wanted to do my own version of it. So this seemed like a perfect time to put it out there and see how much interest there is in me releasing more solo original material. Billy Sheehan, who wrote the track, was at my place for a recording session a little while back and really dug it, so that was the push over the cliff into getting it out there. Hopefully people will like it."

Percy Jones, Scott McGill, Ritchie DeCarlo: start a Kickstarter album campaign

We have finished recording our third album. Funds are needed for mixing, mastering & replication. It will be released December 2014

Hello, I am Ritchie DeCarlo and I have been putting out albums with Progressive Guitarist Scott McGill for the past 10 years. Two of those albums feature the Legendary Bassist PERCY JONES! We have completed the recording for our third album with him. Unfortunately, there is no label or financial backing for this release. So we need your help to put this album out independently. The goal is to raise $3000.00 to cover mixing, mastering, manufacturing and digital distribution costs. This may sound like a lot of Money, but we really hope to exceed this goal because we really want to give you something special in return for your support... So any extra funds will go towards making the final product much better! If we can get close to $5000.00 we will release a limited edition Vinyl version too!! Thanks to KickStarter, packages are available for any budget, as low as $1.00 for a digital download or as high as $800.00 for a producer credit & a SNARE DRUM! So please consider helping us out and being a part of this project. Every little bit helps, and we GREATLY appreciate any support you can offer.....
