Chris Impellitteri: working on film scores

Chris Impellitteri :
"I am currently working on music for film.

"I did a demo for the 'Iron Man' movie featuring Robert Downey Jr. and became intrigued with the world of film. I got to do this amazing shredding guitar solo and had so much fun that I thought I would take some time and see how I progress in the scoring world. So, I am writing some scores that may or may not be used at some point in the future.

Keith Whalen: new blog, with an overload of tabbed complex guitar lessons

Keith Whalen:
Ladies and gentlemen,

This inaugural post needs to begin by thanking you all for visiting my page, regardless of how you may have stumbled upon it. My name is Keith Whalen and I am a self-taught guitarist living in the beautiful Canadian metropolis of Montreal. After many years of toiling, composing and noodling on the guitar and piano, I have built up an expansive repertoire of musical exercises ranging from the quaggy cadence to the finger-busting ultra-stretch arpeggio passage. I've been sharing snippets of my work on my YouTube page for a couple of years now and I'm very humbled by the kind words many of you have expressed; I've also been asked on the occasion to share tabs, which I will be able to do with relative ease here.

News: Mark Carras says Stop Auto Play Websites!

Now I agree 100% with this statement... it has happened to me on my own blog... I fix issues like this as soon as I know... I'd rather delete a post that have an auto starting video or mp3. One problem though is some flash players don't follow the rules!

I am still amazed when I run into websites that start blasting music at me the second the page loads. Are we stuck in the 90’s? Even MySpace has made it so the default for a band page is to not do this. They now make a band dig into their settings to make this happen. Why? Because it is just bad form. It’s rude and it turns people off. They also got tired of paying for the bandwidth for people that didn’t want to hear the music in the first place. It is why “Band Spam” on MySpace was getting such a bad reputation! For the most part it is looked down on, but people still do it. I recently made a post on several social networks ranting about this practice. Most of the people of course agreed that it drove them nuts when bands do this. A few wondered why it is frowned on.

Andy McKee: tour dates

McKee’s unique skill allows him to transform the guitar from a simple stringed instrument to a dynamic calliope of sound. Andy’s deft talents give his music life through altered tunings, syncopated rhythm guitar taps, and his textural use of polyphonic tones and drones. All of these are played on both standard sized acoustic guitars and a hand-built 12 string harp-guitar. His highly-developed two handed technique is reminiscent of some of Andy’s cherished guitar mentors and heroes: Preston Reed, Don Ross, Billy McLaughlin, and Michael Hedges. He honors the path blazed by these pioneers with his unique multi-layering approach as he alone plucks, strums, taps the strings and body to provide the illusion of a full band accompaniment.
Andy McKee signed to Razor & Tie Entertainment in 2009 and released the EP, COMMON GROUND in August of 2009.  The brand new full-length album, JOYLAND, is available now.
