Hey guys,
Here's a quick tune I recorded today using the incredible Plexitone pedal from Carl Martin. This is a mains powered, super-high quality overdrive/distortion pedal that I use for some of my really heavy rhythm and lead tones. It sounds and reacts just like an amp and cleans up beautifully for cleaner tones. I mixed the recording myself so many apologies if it sounds dreadful on your speakers - I have NO idea what I'm doing when it comes to mixing! Sorry...
I'll be doing a full demo very soon so stay tuned for that.
The guitars are all recorded with the Plexitone into my clean Port City Pearl head and then direct into Logic using Redwirez Ir's. Guitar is my Suhr Standard with an SSV+ pickup in the bridge.

Chris Brooks: Bookings for Skype and Personal lessons

Bookings for Skype and Personal lessons for July 2012 now being taken!

I'm pleased to announce that from July, I'll once again be able to offer various guitar lesson services to help you get where you'd like to be.

I've been helping people reach their goals on the guitar since I was 16 years old. Many of my students have gone on to successful teaching or playing careers themselves, and I believe the key to this has been to identify your objectives on the instrument, then implement a plan to help you get there. I don't believe in spoon-feeding licks from CDs, but I do believe in "real world" examples. I will never teach you anything that doesn't have real benefits in actual playing situations.

I specialise in helping people find their unique voice on the guitar, but that doesn't mean I can't help you replicate your favorite players' ideas also.

Please take a look at the options below and click on the link that applies to your situation. Pricing is contained within each page as it applies to the service offered.

Advanced Personal Lessons
For those based in Sydney, Australia.

Skype web lessons

Beginner Personal Lessons

Let's talk soon about what you wish to achieve and how we can get you there.

Wilko Johnson: announces Autumn UK Tour

Following the release of Wilko Johnson’s autobiography, Looking Back At Me, the legendary former guitarist of Dr Feelgood, who’s influenced everyone from Joe Strummer and Mick Jones to Steve Albini, is pleased to announce an Autumn 2012 UK Tour with special guest Virgil and the Accelerators.

Tickets are on sale from the 24 hour box office: 0844 478 0898 and www.eventim.co.uk. The tour gets underway at the Bath Komedia on October 11th.

Described by Wilko as a “fractured autobiography,” Looking Back At Me, co-written with Zoe Howe, is published this month by Cadiz Music. For more info about the book.

After pioneering the Feelgood’s distinctive mid 70s, pre-punk British R&B sound (which had a significant impact on the British punk rock music), Wilko went on to play guitar for Ian Dury and the Blockheads. His current touring band features current Blockhead members Norman Watt-Roy(bass guitar), and Dylan Howe (drums). For further info about the upcoming UK tour.

Frank Zappa: Frank's music now back in the hands of the family

Frank Zappa (1940-1993)

Guitar Player announce:

The music of Frank Zappa is now back in the hands of the Zappa Family Trust.
To celebrate this, the estate has signed a global license and distribution deal with Universal Music Enterprises to release 60 of the iconic composer’s recordings. The roll-out kicks off July 31 with 12 recordings, with another dozen recordings to be released monthly through the end of 2012.
“The ink is not yet dry on The Zappa Family Trust's worldwide deal with Universal Music Enterprises,” says Gail Zappa. “They made us the offer we couldn't refuse--for all the right reasons. It is a win-win for all of us, but mostly for Frank Zappa. Long may his baton wave. We are so ready to go.”  full post
