2006 Release from LA Cat Steve Weingart. A solid follow up to his last record Life Time . This one features some of the hottest of the cats from LA, Frank Gambale, Jimmy Earl, Tom Brechtlein as well as his wife Renee Jones on bass and vocals as a special guest.
A few words from Steve Weingart on "Dark Blue Dream": I am very happy to announce the release of my 2nd CD. The musicians on this recording with me are: Frank Gambale-guitar, Jimmy Earl-bass, Tom Brechtlein-drums. There are also guest appearances by: Ernie Watts-saxophone on 'Asfew', Ronnie Gutierrez-percussion on 'Asfew', and my wife, Renee Jones-bass on 'Soundscape 1', 'Soundscape 4', and 'Unforgotten Path'. Renee also sings on '3 Til Dawn' and 'Unforgotten Path'. I wrote all of the music for this CD which was originally recorded in 2004. It was my intention to record this CD in the spirit of live performance. I wanted to convey the feeling to the listener of being at a concert. In a live concert setting, musically speaking, anything can happen, and with the right chemistry with the musicians, it does! This has a direct reflection on the duration of these songs. I'm not hiding the fact that a lot of the songs are long by today's popular radio standards. "Time flies when you're having fun" and this is what happened during those 2 days in the studio recording this music. I think out of my friendship and respect for each of the musicians, it needs to be said as complimentary as possible: Each song is a 'one take' performance, and if I may say: great performances they are! I began mixing and editing all of this music earlier this year (2006) using "Logic Pro" on my computer. I wrote some new songs that were born in the experimenting process of learning "Logic". These songs are: 'Soundscape 1', 'Soundscape 4', and 'Unforgotten Path', all of which feature my wife, Renee. We really enjoyed our time in the studio together, and I believe you can hear that in the music. I also went on an 'editing journey' on what became 'Outside In (Part 2)'. Using drum loops and synthesizer sounds from 'Spectrasonics' "Atmosphere" and "Stylus RMX" software, and "Logic's" synthesizer modules, I was able to create a dreamy state that included Frank's guitar lines from 'Outside In (pt.1). I'm proud of the work that went into this CD, and am honored to have such great friends and musicians share their talents and these musical moments with me. Thanks for sharing this musical journey with us. Steve Weingart buy
On his new solo album 'Casa Mendoza' you will find some new Marco Mendoza originals along with a few covers. Great melodic rock/hard rock with a sunny Latin flavor to it. The musicianship is top notch. Songs like Suzy Q, You, Circle of Life, Betty Joe or Get Ready all are ready to infect the masses with their commercial sound.

Roine Stolt (Guitars, Rhodes, Minimoog, Clavinet, Percussion); Jonas Reingold (Fender & Warmoth Basses, Additional Synth); Lalle Larsson (Piano, Rhodes & Synth); Karl-Martin Almqvist (Tenor & Soprano Saxophones); Dave Weckl (Drums); Zoltan Czörsz (Drums); Ayi Solomon (Congas, Shakers & Percussion)
3rd World Electric is a band put together by guitarist Roine Stolt and bassist Jonas Reingold, both of The Flower Kings, both of whom wanted to explore their great love of 1970s-styled fusion. Based on the sound here, the group they loved the most from that period was Weather Report. Keyboardist Lalle Larsson is a great, monster player but also a player who knows what to do and when to do it and he knows exactly what to do here to channel the feel of Joe Zawinul without copying him. In addition to these three, there's also a saxist, two drummers and a percussionist. At its best, you may begin to think you are hearing the lost album between Sweetnighter and Mysterious Traveler. more

You played every instrument (except the drums) on this album. How difficult is it to record an album being the sole performer, and how much preparation goes into it?
Creating an album contains several stages, the first is the writing. I begin with an intense, highly focused period where I compose note-by-note for every instrument, including the drums, bass, guitar, piano, french horns, oboes, etc. Stage 2 is further orchestrating and distributing the parts. Stage 3 is sending the players, including myself, the scores for the parts to be learned. And finally in the next stage, everything is recorded. For the most part I don't find the process difficult, although there are indeed some challenging parts that I compose and later when learning them I think: "What was I thinking?". But, with practice it all comes together and has continued to push my abilities. It's always exciting for me to see each idea come into fruition and it's what motivates more than anything else. more
"With over fifty years of manufacturing and designing the best strings in the business Rotosound have a long history of developing groundbreaking new ideas. These include launching the first roundwound guitar string (1963), the first black nylon coated bass string (1967) and the first pressure wound bass guitar string (1977).
In 1974 Rotosound’s founder, James How, pioneered the ‘contact core’ designed acoustic string originally known as ‘Country Gold’s’. The initial design was based on the strings centre core resting on the bridge of the guitar. This helps to:
- Create longer sustain
- Produce a brighter sound
- Increase volume
- Reduce slightly the action on any instrument
The strings have a rich textured tone that stems from the use of Phosphor Bronze; an alloy of copper, tin and phosphor made to Rotosounds exact specifications.
2010 sees the Super Bronze strings brought back into the range using the very latest state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques, improved quality control and the finest quality raw materials. They are used by many top artists including Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Walter Trout, Bob Geldof and many others.
Super Bronze strings are available in the following gauges*:
SB10 10 / 14 / 20w / 28w / 40w / 50w
SB11 11 / 15 / 22w / 30w / 42w / 52w
SB12 12 / 16 / 24w / 32w / 44w / 54w
* Please note: w denotes wound string
The strings are available worldwide and for further information on the range see http://www.rotosound.com/super_bronze.html

Paganini Caprice No. 1, This lesson I will be showing you Niccolo Paganini's Caprice No.1 from the 24th Caprices, which I always loved and always wanted to arrange for the guitar.
