Paul Hanson: mp3 cd's available

Paul Hanson - Paul Hanson Orchestra:
While living in Vienna Austria in the 1990's Paul became obsessed with fusing classic Big Band standards of the 1930's and 40's with shred/metal guitar. All these cool guitars were recorded with Marshall amps in the cellar of the Ottakringer district building that was the site of the 1990's European music school American Institute of Music (AIM).

Paul Hanson - Rain Dancer:
This album is full of Paul’ s mellow acoustic guitar ensemble tunes. Recorded in the mountains of the northwest and the California desert it captures a romantic feel and the vibes and rhythms, of nature.

Paul Hanson - The Visitor:
Recorded in the 1980's in the huge Arco Studio in Munich Germany this album features Paul’ s guitar shredding and the killer drumming of New York drum virtuoso John Macaluso. Also half the tunes feature the classic rock singing of Hollywood vocal coach Jerome Stocco.

David T Chastain: new cd on the way

David T. Chastain will release a new collection, "Heavy Excursions", in April via Leviathan Records. David recently decided that he wanted to put out a release of what he considered his best "heavy" instrumentals and he has done so on his new CD, "Heavy Excursions". Tracks included are from the aforementioned "Instrumental Variations" as well as tracks from some of David's other all-instrumental CDs — "Within The Heat", "Elegant Seduction", "Acoustic Visions", "Rock Solid Guitar", and David's newest all-instrumental CD, "Countdown to Infinity". As an extra bonus, David added the CHASTAIN instrumental classic "827" and the bombastic CJSS cut "Thunder and Lightning".

David comments, "I have always really liked '827' and 'Thunder and Lightning' and felt they needed to be included in any compilation CD of my heavy instrumental favorites."

Musicians featured on this CD include bassists David Harbour, Steven Taylor and Mike Skimmerhorn. Drummers include Ken Mary, Mike Haid, Les Sharp and Rick Porter. full post

Allan Holdsworth: snew world order

According to vintage guitar:
In one of the most improbable musical combinations imaginable, hard rock band Snew has teamed up with legendary improvisational guitarist Allan Holdsworth for a new rendition of the Deep Purple classic Highway Star. The song will be exclusively available for the entire month of February on the Snew website as a free download to all Snew World Order members. Go to for free registration.

Holdsworth plays two entirely unique solos on the song in his one-of-a-kind technique, while the band belts out a ferocious, balls-to-the-wall version of Highway Star that totally pays homage to Purple and then some.

Usually opposed to covering songs by another artist, let alone a band with the luminary status of Deep Purple, Snew's members felt Highway Star was the right vehicle for their collaboration with Holdsworth. "The song just felt right," observed Snew bass player Cat Tate, "and let's face it, we really kick ass on it!"

Jorge Salan: joins jeff scott soto

Howie Simon gets the chop... Jeff Scott Soto has issued the following update:
"I am truly introducing my new sound and album with a select pick of musicians I know will add the dynamic the music calls for. I thank my regular cast of bandits, Howie Simon/Gary Schutt/Dave Dzialak, for being there with me so many years and will keep them in place for the classic Jeff Scott Soto show needs if/when they come up. But the new guys seem to fit where I am heading now."

On lead guitar is Jorge Salan, the young-blood hotshot from Madrid, Spain whom Jeff met through his many tours through Spain. Jeff even contributed vocals on one track for Jorge's 2007 solo album, "Chronicles Of An Evolution", in which Jeff first discovered this fresh new talent.
