Background:
Yannick Robert was born in Brittany and started guitar at the age of 9 and also played the drums and accordian. He was strongly influenced by Celtic music after taking courses from Pierre Cullaz at the CIM in Paris.

In 1985 he went to the Guitar Institute of Technology in Los Angeles and studied with Scott Henderson, Joe Pass, Joe Diorio, Wise, Robben Ford, and Dave Pozzi. Later he had lessons with Frank Gambale and Karl Schroeder.

He moved back to Belgium, and formed a trio releasing their first album "the pendulum". Yannick won sponsorship from Ibanez. He also took part in the Cannes festival of 94 and 95 with Michel Cusson and Alain Charon.

Yannick then became known for fretless guitar and attended the first world festival of fretless guitar. He was invited to record for the album "Fretless Guitar Masters" in 2001, which also featured other fretless exponents: Ron Thal, Ned Evett, Dave Fiuczynski, Tim Donahue, Yan Vagh, Stephen Taylor and Franck Vigroux.
