News:
01-03-2005:
Bill is in the last stages of recording the 13 tracks for a new CD called "Relentless". Listen to a clip of "Drastic" (mp3)

Background:
Bill Lonero plays instrumental guitar with a twist. Focusing on song construction rather than 5 minute solos, over exotic time changes. This means he is more concerned with writing a good song then impressing people. You can hear this on his cd “Slather”. All guitar parts were recorded live, without cutting and pasting, editing or punch-ins.

Bill began playing guitar at the age of 12, being influenced by Angus Young. He has sinced played and recorded with Stu Hamm (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai), Gigi Gonaway and Mike Mangini.

  1. Bill Lonero is one of those rare guitarists that seems to possess it all: taste, chops and musicality. There are plenty of guitarists out there with chops but most of them are nothing but one trick ponies. They can play fast but they can't write a song, they can write a song but their technique sucks. Bill seems to have it all down.
Not only would I put him up there with Satriani and Vai but I would put him above all the run of the mill "shredders" out there. Thanks for turning me on to him!

  2. I agree. Bill Lonero is an awesome guitarist. He isn't concerned about showing how fast he can play or how many arpeggios he can play (although from the video it looks like he has no problem with either). He is a true musician that cares about music above ego. Great job on putting him on your blog!
