A preview of the Lion music label's long awaited super group project, Shadrane. The CD from this project is called "Temporal" and feature, Joop Wolters, Vivian Lalu, Marco Sfogli, Goran Edmund, Matt and Greg Bissonette, Virgil Donati, Alex Argento. Allow me to write that Joop Wolters is a self-made musician who didn't have to recruit four guests for "Out Of Order" at all. He is an absolute instrumentalist who totally mastered all needed instruments to produce a balanced album with guitar-oriented music!

I made a composition showing some of the sounds and possibilties from the gr-20 guitar synth all keyboard recordings in this song are done with the gr-20.. It is a great tool to give your composing/playing more depth..Absolutely great tool for studio and live, and it's diversity is a blessing in the sky for me due to the fact that I like diversity in style so much!!! Next project I am going to do is a heavy vocal one. I’ve already completed the writing/recordings for ten songs. It’s going to contain, again, different styles and singers both male and female… it’s just the way I do things. To me music is universal and certain styles express a certain type of emotion or state of mind to me.

Dave B back and on the interview trail...this time the interview is with acomplished super player Joop Wolters. Joop who recently released a quality CD Out Of Order and has a new CD with Vivian Lalu, the Shadrane project due October 2007.
Joop says:
I still practice two or three hours a day… it all depends on what else I have to do. For example, if I have to mix an album then I’ll do that instead of practicing. But most of the time it’s a combination of playing, practicing, and writing new material. Everyday of last week I played for six hours in the evenings, after my regular day-job (which starts at 7:30 in the morning)! But I’ve been doing that crazy routine for 20 years!

Lalu is based in the Paris' suburbs and is producing his own records from there. His debut album "LALU - Oniric Metal", featuring Joop was released in 2005 by Lion Music. Joop Says:
I guess in every one's life there are some things that you just can't live without. Mine is making music. The particular album Out Of Order absorbed exactly one year of work. I started writing and recording all kind of idea's that ended in a straight 60 tracks beeing as stylistic as possible. Then I had to look which ones I wanted to use finally. After some deliberation it resulted in these 16 tracks. Most of the inspiration to write these tunes came from the things that happened in my every day's life. . For this project I actually had no real budget, this spurred me even more to get this job done. Relying again on creativity and feel and my hands...it's my best work to date......judging by the sound samples I can concur with that...this ones on the top of my buy list!

Check out this interesting news item: A couple of weeks ago Joop was part of a Radio-show for the NPS on 4FM (dutch national radio). The show, called "Blindfolded", played "The Crash" from "Speed, Traffic and Guitar Accidents" to Steve Vai, and this is what he said about Joops, playing(mp3)

Joop has recorded some demos for a instrumental album set for later this year. In the meantime he has record five vovcal based tunes for another new project due before the instrumental release.
To give you a flavour of the new material he has uplpaoded a new video for a song called "Scarabee" for you to enjoy. This follows on from news that he has started recordings for the second- Lalu album.

Lalu - Oniric Metal is released on Lion Music records. Joop provides all guitars on Vivien Lalu's debut album featuring Ryan Van Poederooyen (The Devin Townsend Band), Russell Bergquist (Ex-Annihilator), and Martin LeMar.
Background:
Joop is a big fan of the playing of Alex Lifson and other players from Fusion and Jazzrock spectrum like Larry Carlton, Steve Morse ,Tribal Tech and Uzeb.
Signed to Lion Music in 2002 he released his first solo album, the ideas were recorded over the previous six years and resulted in the "Workshop" album.
At the beginning of 2005 Joop released his second solo album, "Speed, Traffic and Guitar Accidents". This album reflects his personal lifestory and experiences within these 17 tracks.
