Daniele Gottardo: MESA® Rosette™ 300 / Two:Eight Acoustic Combo – Archtop Jazz

The Rosette™ Combo works well with a wide variety of instruments, and one of the places it can excel - in both tone and it’s compact footprint - is with hollowbody and archtop guitars for jazz and clean applications. This example with our friend Daniele Gottardo showcases the smoothness and warmth of a D’Angelico EXL-1 being brought up to a nice room playing volume. The Rosette provides the right amount of clarity and punch while still being round, warm and true to the guitar’s inherently full, warm sound. Adding just pinch of room reverb from the Rosette’s FX section makes the tone sit tastefully in the room and in a mix.

Recorded with a D’Angelico EXL-1 Deluxe into the MESA Rosette™ Combo and mic’d with a Royer Stereo XY, an AEA R44 Ribbon Mic, and the Rosette Channel 2 DI Output. Mixed with approximately 40% Royer, 30% AEA and 30% DI with mastering for optimized levels.
