Background:
Alex Ehrsam is from Strasbourg, Alsace, France. He has been playing guitar for the last thirteen years. He grew up in a musical environment listening to a lot of jazz and rag-time, discovering Miles and Coltrane and their vision of music.

For the last 4 years, he's been trying to cut into basic guitar chops to create arpeggiated approaches, developing a jazz feel through a specific choice of notes and using a rock guitar sound. He's been using mixolydian, dorian, altered, blues modes snd a lot of chromatic tricks, through hybrid techniques combining legato, sweep and finger picking.

He has also worked on building a smooth nu-jazz ambience into his music. “Elevator Shaft” is one of the tracks dedicated to that style.

Influences include: John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Eric Dolphy, Steve Coleman, Joshua Redman, Roy Hargrove, Greg Howe, Wayne Krantz, Alex Machacek, Vernon Reid, Sylvain Luc, Baden Powell, Mike Stern, Allan Holdsworth, Brett Garsed, Scott Henderson, Pierre-Jean Gaucher, John Scofield, Esbjorn Svensson Trio, Brad Mehldau, Chucho Valdés, Bugge Wesseltoft...
