Paul Gilbert: bristol bierkeller gig...

After the Irish sea crossing Paul Gilbert and band were let a little worse for wear and tired too. Jenn published a review of the gig by Nitefly... could this be the person who blocked my video camera?! If I get time, i'll post my own report including my VIP experience.

Paul Gilbert's pedal board including the detox pedal.

The roadies basically said that ‘Paul would be out in half an hour’. The result was that quite a few people decided to stay (20-30)… it was becoming obvious to me that Paul really really just wanted to go to bed. I really wanted to speak to Jeff but he had snuck on the tour bus with his hoody on to avoid the rabble.

People had now been waiting a long, long, long time. It was about 12:15 and then, out of nowhere, a man in a hoody walks down the street and says ‘hey’… it was Paul! Not normal happy Paul… this was drained, tired, exhausted Paul.

He must have snuck out of the venue and hoped that only a few people would stay, but he couldn’t not return because it would have looked bad on his behalf. He was immediately swamped with requests to sign everything and stuff… but no one really wanted to talk to him. Suddenly I felt really bad.
