Rob Chapman: The Victory Amps, "Red Dwarf" Unboxing

Hi guys, I'm ecstatic to announce something that has taken months of hardcore development, sweat, blood, tears and smiles.

As most of you will know, I spent a lot of my career playing smaller low wattage amplifiers... in fact it's probably true to say that most of my followers initially came to me through a well known, small low wattage amp. The Silverback is my baby, huge powerful "All conquering tones", tried and tested on the road over many prototypes and worked hard in the studio throughout the recording of Dorje's album "Centred & One".

It's really perfect (To me) in every way, except that you can't fit it into an Easy Jet overhead locker and it retails for £1,899... which is a lot of money. On tour I lost count of the number of fans who really wanted a Silverback, but just couldn't afford it, or didn't need the high output.

Cue the Victory "Red Dwarf", named after the star - not the TV show (Although I love the show), small but powerful, light but very strong, made in England to a boutique spec, but affordable!

I modelled the single channel after the lead channel of the Silverback, but with slightly different tonal characteristics. The Red Dwarf is a powerful single channel amp that can take you from crisp cleans, through to searing heavy rock lead. From 1 Watt for a bedroom/recording tone through to 20 Watts of screaming valves - absolutely loud enough to gig with
2 X 12AX7/ECC83 for the Preamp, 1X 12AX7/ECC83 for the phase splitter (Used to drive the output valves) and finally 2 X EL84/6BQ5 output valves.

The output valves are in a fixed bias configuration to enable a little more output from them, and to allow the end user more control over the idling current - giving them longer life and cooler idling conditions.
I receive the first two prototypes tomorrow and I'll be taking them on my USA tour to put them through their paces.

It looks like these will retail in the UK for a spectacular £599 ($800 ex tax USA) - Prices subject to changes depending on the normal variables.

Quick shout out to my amazing tech Paul "Pablo" Jones who named the amp for me in a dirty hotel room last tour, and also to the amazing Martin Kid at Victory who is nothing short of a genius!
I'm extremely proud of my new baby and I really hope you like it, PLEASE NOTE, it is named "Red Dwarf" not "The Red Dwarf"and the final production model will be altered that way.
See you on the road,
Chappers
