Background:
Al Ridgway, is 25 and based in Congleton, Cheshire in the UK.

He is completely self taught on the instrument, no lessons ever!. He says
"I dont know if thats good or bad"
. He did take some formal music theory lessons without focusing on one instrument from the university of Texas at Austin about 7 years ago.

Interestingly, like Allan Holdsworth, he has his own method of deciphering the fretboard and hopefully one day soon will post some articles for those that might be interested!

He enjoys playing through anything that grooves. Al says:
I think like most serious musicians I strive to play what is in my head at any given moment and think that improvisation is what its all about.

His influences include George Benson, Allan Holdsworth, Buddy guy, Frank Zappa, Stevie Ray, Wayne Krantz. A lot of non guitar stuff, such as Michael Brecker, Herbie Hancock and the Meters plus anything funky!

He plays a Jackson sl1, mesa boogie amp and a Robert Keeley ts9 tube screamer which I love.

Al says:
I am busy working on trying to get some trade show promo/demo gigs and making a name for myself... I am also working on a free to download solo album which should be ready for Feb.
... so if your interested and can help please contact Al: http://youtube.com/user/spocktrometer
