Jessica Gardlund:
I’m a guitarist/songwriter/singer with my homebase in Stockholm, Sweden. I have played guitar for nearly a decade and have been writing songs for as long as I can remember. Although I’m primarily a guitarist, I started out playing classical piano for a few years before my interest in the guitar really began. I took inspiration from guitarists like Jimi Hendrix, Gary Moore and John Norum.
When I had played and practised a few years I decided to take part in a guitar competition, just for fun, on the Swedish radio station ”Rockklassiker” to see how far I could go competing with all the skilled guys out there. The theme was to play an improvisation around Led Zeppelin’s ”Heartbreaker”. To my surprise, I took second place and won a guitar (an Epiphone, which I later traded in for my Gibson Les Paul). Participating in this event also led me to perform at the Led Zeppelin Polar Prize week.
I have played in many bands over the years, mostly together with female musicians. Until recentry I was playing with a female metal band called Hysterica. We did an European tour and had an appearence in Swedish television in connection to a gig.
Recently I’ve recorded a four track EP at Studios 301 (Soundtrade) in Stockholm, together with Ian Haugland and John Levén from the Swedish band Europe. You can listen to the samples on my new MySpace page http://www.myspace.com/jessicafoxxofficial
