MORE ABOUT BEING INDIE
Becoming a completely independent artist is liberating in that I'm able to make whatever kind of music I'm feeling without needing the approval from the record label. The downside is that it can take quite a while to come up with the funds necessary to do all the things that a record label does (cover recording costs, manufacturing, marketing, publicity, advertising, etc.). After "American Made" was released in 2006 (my last album with Surfdog Records), it took 4 years to get "Utopia" to the fans. Now there's a better way. By using Kickstarter, I'll be able to release more music more often, which is what we all want, right? We're in a new era, and I'm psyched that you can join me for the ride - GH
