A guitar9 columnist session with Dave Martone, digging deep into studio time with players like Michael Batio, Steve Stevens, Mike Stone, Jennifer Batten, Scott Henderson and Greg Howe...

the CD is building!

I have been ripped out of my studio (Brainworks) and transplanted to different parts of America over the past few months. That sure has been hard to adjust to. For myself, once I get into a certain zone in the studio I cannot stop. Progress on the new album is/was going great but the National Guitar Workshop and Berklee both call.

A cool video live at The National Guitar Workshop in CT. With Dave Overthrow-Bass/Composer, and Adam Issadore- Drums.

09-03-2007:
Mike Blackburn from alloutguitar.com brings another quality interview, this time with Dave Martone and covering all aspects of his new release.

[Prashant Aswani]Yes he went to study with Greg for a year or two, a great experience I am sure. He is a great friend and a greater player. Originally that song was written for Liquid Note records (The Alchemist II recently released) That track also appears on there with a different guest, Chris Buono, who also provided the really weird kind of sounds to the Four Horsemen. I talked to both Liquid Note and Lion and Liquid wanted a different soloist contractually so I asked Prashant to do this. Originally, believe it or not, I asked Joe Satriani to fill in the spaces on that and he was totally into it but just too busy so maybe sometime in the future.

Dave B, likes Dave Martone's new CD "When The Aliens Come"...wana to find out why in this CD review?
I’d probably have to say this is the heaviest Martone album yet, and it certainly seems to pay little attention to convention. If you're a fan of progressive instrumental guitar music, consider this a must-hear album. When the aliens come to get me I'm taking this music with me!

15-02-2007:
Yehaa it's here...the new release from Lion Music recording artist Dave Martone..."When The Aliens Come"...expect the unexpected, originality, new twists and turns. The CD also features guitar players:
Prashant Aswani - 1st and 3rd Guitar Solos on "Fumble Fingers"
Chris Buono - 5th, 9th and 12th Guitar Solos on "The Four Horsemen", F/X and

Terry Syrek - 2th, 7th and 10th Guitar Solos on "The Four Horsemen"

10-02-2007:
Matt Williams, Liquid Note Records main man, sing s his praises for the upcoming release:
I've just had the pleasure of hearing Dave Martone's new CD, When The Aliens Come. I'd like to recommend it to you. It's an absolutely superb album, with some of the best playing (from ALL the musicians), one of the best prodcutions and some of the most inventive compositions I've heard since ... well, the last Martone CD! Yes, it's really been 5 years since the classic A Demon's Dream, but boy, has it been worth the wait. I truly believe this killer album will blow you out of your socks! When you get hold of your copy, do yourself a favour and listen to it through good quality headphones - only then does it display its true colours. Layers and layers of sounds, emotions, FX and experimental timings and abrupt but appropriate time changes. In my opinion the tunes are as much about evoking soundscapes as instrumentals. The Satch's of this world ought to hear this album as they could learn a LOT from it. This is what it's all about, guys. If only most guitar albums were a quarter as interesting as this one. Yes, you heard it here first: Dave Martone is a musical genius!

You might also be interested in the fact that there's an alternative version of The Alchemists II's 'Fumble Fingers' included on WTAC. New mix and different solos. It makes an interesting comparison.
