Alec Williams: after the heat

News:
05-10-2006:
Thanks for Samual Lovetro for providing me with the information about this player.

Background:
Alec Williams was born in 1969. When he was in Junior High school he listened to Gershwin, Ives, Schoenberg, Copeland, and other modern composers. He started guitar lessons at nearby music store.

His playing progress was slow, but his mum was convinced enough to buy him a very expensive guitar as a gesture of support. Things started to gel and he developed his own unique touch and tone.

At 17 he won a contact for a band but, didn't take it up[ to persue his own band "This is Heat". The band focused on improvised music. He aquired a Synthe-axe to further develop a unique style.

Alec played nothing but his own original compositions, encompassing a wide range of musical styles and genres. Unfortunately a nervous condition he had been born with became worse and he was no longer able to fully utilize his studio and eventually he could no longer play the guitar.

This web site is a testament to his legacy with over 200 cassettes and a large number of reel-to-reel tapes. The process of selecting material for release is on-going and it is hoped that there will be several more CDs to come.

Check out the web site for a more detailed bio host of mp3 CD's

The web site also shows the only surviving video of Alec Williams playing with his band, This is Heat. It was recorded live at the Island Cottage Hotel, 953 Edgemere Drive, Rochester NY.
