I have not been to Petrucci forum for a while so I was pleased to see some healthy debate over this compilation video comparing Slash, Buckethead and Ron Thal. Of course there is one problem with this... both Ron Thal and Buckethead are playing Slashes solo so it's not really a safe comparison for playing sake. Anyway you make up your own mind.
