Leo Badinella - “Beyond Consciousness”
Background:
Composer, producer and guitarist Leo Badinella makes no concessions when considering the emotional content of his music. Having being part of numerous band situations but never truly being satisfied, in the year 2005 he set out to unleash his creativity and persue a solo career where his music could live without restraints. That same year the E.P. called “Prologo” saw the light of day, it included demos of 5 songs that featured the guitar as the lead instrument and expression and compositional quality as the essential characteristics. The answer to this E.P. did not take long and a select group of people enjoyed the music of Leo Badinella that year in several live concerts including a special appearance on stage with the famous bass player Billy Sheehan. This answer was most motivating for Leo and he decided to do a full length album.
Four years later the album “Beyond Consciousness” is released. Comprised of 10 songs with guest musicians from all over the world. Produced and mixed by Leo Badinella, “Beyond Consciousness” presents a very powerful shade of progressive rock, oriented around the guitar. The amazing bassist Michael Manring plays on the song “Ritual” fulfilling one of Leo’s dreams. Other incredible musicians who present this work are drummer Rodrigo Roa who has played with Leo Badinella since forever, bass player Sebastián Muñoz and bass player Martin “Ahm” Nielsen from Denmark.
Leo Badinella’s music is not only featured in his records. As a composer Leo has done much work for TV and recently for the just-released video game “The Nameless Mod” where Leo along with other composers wrote music in a vein very different from his solo albums, but as always with the same emphasis on evocation. Fans of film scores and video game soundtracks are invited to check this marvelous piece of work.

Leo Badinella - “Beyond Consciousness”
This album includes songs that were composed over an extensive period of time. In between the different projects that I’ve done, I always make time to write music for guitar, luckily with every project I get involved in I acquire different perspectives from where to look at art, music and life in general, this viewpoints are naturally reflected on the music I write, as you will notice…I hope.
The songs on “Beyond Consciousness” span a large stylistic spectrum. With this in mind I compiled a selective list of musicians who would interpret and add a personal touch to the songs: Michael Manring being the most well-known and awarded of them, plays bass on “Ritual”; Michael “Ahm” Nielsen from Denmark added a very aggressive touch to the bass in “Contrastes” and “Escape”; Sebastián Muñoz plays bass in “Prologo” and “Infinite Substance”; and Rodrigo Roa recorded the drums for the whole album with a power, dedication and total engagement worthy of a super-hero.
The album is comprised of 10 songs. The titles are:
