Gary Hoey: examiner interview

There are a lot of things that have been going on with the DVD. We mixed the music, we had everything ready to go. We’ve done most of the editing. There have just been a lot of things that have slowed the process in getting it done and getting it out...just crazy things. We worked on the packaging three times and I still wasn’t happy with it, so we scrapped it, which caused one delay.
And being that I do a lot of cover songs, which obviously a lot of people want to hear, clearing some of those songs has become time-consuming and very costly. Because, when you create something on film for a video, it totally changes how you pay the royalty and the kind of license that you have to secure. So, we will get through it; it will come out, I promise. We’re just running into a little bit of red tape. And I found out that we’re not the only ones that this happens to. I’ve seen some artist-friends of mine take a really long time getting videos out, because sometimes you have to jump through hoops. But we’re working hard on it.

We also recorded a second performance at the theater in Sellersville, PA, so we actually have two DVDs almost completed, so hopefully they will both come out, and we’ll make up for those lost two years. We’re really hoping to get one of them out before the end of the year.
