Xia Yan started playing guitar in 1999, when he was 18. He had some professional lessons in the very beginning, but he did not find the lessons that helpful. He has primarily learned from other guitarists. He also practices a lot.
He is now 23 years old and makes a living as a professional guitarist with the band of Zheng Jun.
