Another full on interview with Dave Kilminster, from classicrockrevisited.com with lots of detail about the recent Floyd gigs. Snippet Dave talking about Roger Waters:
There wasn’t a huge difference. Roger would still take us all out for dinner and it’s an important thing for him, despite the fact that it’s his name on the top of all the posters. He really cares about every single person in the band and actually all the crew as well. There would always be a band and crew dinner towards the end of the tour and he would go around and remember everyone’s name, I mean everyone, from the lorry drivers to the guy who would do the lights or whatever. He’s an incredible character, ridiculously intelligent, very sharp and very funny. He’s very witty and very generous with everyone.

Dave Kilminster goes unplugged... Dave plays special December 7th gig in Freiberg Germany in a duo format with acoustic guitarist Murray Hockridge for the first time in public on Friday December 7th, 2007. They take the stage at the Woden Halle in Freiburg, Germany at 8.30 pm.

Murray's voice has been deemed special by fans and critics and his original compositions fascinating while his interpretation of cover songs are memorable.

There should be two one hour sets -- so if you really love the first set, you can hang around and see the second! Dave is looking forward to this and we hope you are too! This marks the first public performance of two of England's finest guitarists.

26-11-2007:
Dave Kilminster was a founding member of the band Qango which also featured John Wetton on bass and vocals, Carl Palmer on drums and John Young on keyboards. The band was well-received, but only had the opportunity to release one album, Live in the Hood, which was in very limited edition. (Dave also met Keith Emerson while playing with Qango and that meeting spurred the formation of the Keith Emerson Band) Dave Kilminster is pleased to announce that Qango's Live in the Hood Album is available for a short time in re-release from the Store for Music at http://www.thestoreformusic.com. You will have the opportunity to purchase the album either as a CD or in download. The album is available beginning 26th November 2007.

Qango's Live in the Hood Album
John Wetton: Lead Vocal / Bass Guitar
Carl Palmer: Drums / Percusion
John Young: Keyboards / Harmony Vocals
Dave Kilminster: Guitars / Harmony Vocals
Recorded live in the UK at the Robin Hood & The Brook.
Mixed and sequenced at Liscombe Park Studios.
Engineered by Paul Kennedy.

Dave Kilminster has uploaded one song from Qango on www.davekilminster.com so that you can get a "taste" of what the album sounds like. You can now listen to Sole Survivor on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/davekilminster

Watch soon for a special Xmas announcement!

Another interview with guitarist Dave Kilminster on the Roger Waters Tour by Carla Huntington...talking about Keith Emerson Dave Says:

I put in loads of stuff. He trusted me which is amazing, and whatever I came up with he was like “yeah, that's great”. In fact in some ways he spurred me on to do crazier things... I remember we were rehearsing one day and I just happened to be sitting there with the guitar on my lap playing Sabre Dance and I was kinda playing it like a piano, and Keith looked round and said “that's great, that's got to go in the set!” I was like “wow”! He was completely and totally unafraid of sharing the limelight.

might need a medium for this one...

I'm a huge Jeff Buckley fan…I would love to play rhythm guitar for Jeff Buckley.

Dave answers my question...but we live in hope...
Yeah, I recorded these things and thought, “well I'm going to pay to make this into a cd and let other people enjoy it!” A lot of people have said they weren't expecting anything like this, especially after me winning the guitar competition shredding on electric guitar basically!!!

16-07-2007:
Hot on his rave review appearence on Live Earth, a couple of interviews with Dave K have been published on http://www.ytsejam.com/ wrtiiten by Rita Bayer.

A conversation with DAVE KILMINSTER
Part 1: Roger Waters – The Dark Side Of The Moon Tour 2006/07
Part 2: Solo album 'Scarlet' & other music related stuff

Dave Says:
'Rain…’ I’m especially proud of… I originally wrote it as an instrumental, but Pete said ‘You should put some words to that’… I thought ‘what a stupid idea!!!’, but the more I thought about it the better it sounded. I was messing around with the intro on keyboards, which is when I decided to have the choral intro… and we also jammed out the end, so I slapped a long solo on it… hopefully it doesn’t feel too long though…
...not long enought Dave!! but take some time to check out Dave K's myspace to hear the super hot solo from the "Rain" track http://www.myspace.com/davekilminster, the track with the most appropriate title for UK weather at the moment!

Dave K's album SCARLET available on Amazon for limited time! For everyone who has asked to be able to order from a retailer rather than www.davekilminster.com, we are pleased that Amazon will be offering SCARLET for a very short period of time to accommodate you.

You can continue to buy the album direct from Dave's website, www.davekilminster.com and if you order from the website, you have the opportunity to purchase it with PLAYING WITH FIRE, Dave's timeless acoustic masterpiece or buy on Amazon.

The CD is a mainly vocal album affair but there are three top notch solos that sizzle and shine. I have to say the CD has grown on me.

24-06-2007:
The Dave Kilminster interview from the April issue of Guitar techniques is online.
Roger wanted the sounds to be pretty close to the originals, and I know that Mr Gilmour uses loads of pedals, so I brought a huge collection of hardware, which I gradually managed to whittle down to a manageable chunk

07-05-2007:

25-04-2007:
Rita Bayer posted an interview with Dave Kilminster on ytsejam.com

About a Keith Emerson music project:
"No, it’s not a secret. It is possible. I’ve been far too busy since the beginning of last year to consider that. I’m hopefully going to see him when we play Hollywood again. Who knows .....I’d really love to record an album with him. We already started to write some tunes and I think we could make a great album. I love that style of playing as well. It’s more improvising, you’re just going out on a limit. We all go in the same direction, it’s more an organic thing. It’s a bit more a mess, I guess."

23-04-2007:
Dave Kilminster has posted an excerpt from Rain, which seems to be a favorite of everyone who hears virtuoso guitarist Dave Kilminster's album "Scarlet", is now on myspace!!! Check out the solo at the end of the track excellent. This vocal album continues to grow on me!

He hopes to have it completed and ready for sale before the next Roger Waters tour which is penned in for end of January 2007. The tour will take Dave all around the world again. A new look and feel for Dave s web site and some tour dates for 2006.

You can also get his playing with fire CD online

I also found this interview with Dave on ytsejam

for fans of his old design:

Background:
I have known Dave Kilminster for a long time. He started playing guitar in1976. After a go-karting accident he swapped from playing left hand guitar to right hand guitar.

Dave finally won major recognition in 1991 when he won the 'Guitarist of the Year' competition with his instrumental entry 'Sundance'. Shortly after Dave joined the Guitar Institute in London as a guitar tutor. He also became a writer and transcriber for the uk based 'Guitar Techniques' and 'Guitarist' magazines. During this period he worked in numerous bands and with vocalist Nicky Brooks.

Strangely, rather than highlight his awesome electric technique he decide to release an acoustic CD 'Playing with Fire' with Fraser Thorneycroft Smith, who now plays with Craig David.

Since then Dave has toured and recorded with John Wetton (ex Asia, King Crimson, UK), Quango (featuring Carl Palmer from Emerson, Lake and Palmer on drums) and Ken Hensley (ex Uriah Heep). More recently Dave has been playing with Keith Emerson and The Nice.

I have always found Daves playing amazing and yet I find it hard to believe that there hasn't been more instrumental musical output. However, following his "If the moon" work on the The Alchemists CD and the "fives" track of Guthrie Govan, there is hope that an instrumental album for Liquid Note Records with Guthrie Govan will follow at some point. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Check out his web site for a complete discography or read this interesting ytsejam interview.
