The Best of Both Worlds

Don Lappin has confirmed that his DVD project is still in progress. At this point Don is currently wrapping up filming with the last shoot scheduled for November 2007. Bare in mind that Don already has in excess of 6 hours of video footage. The post production and video editing comes next with a hoped for release date of Q2 2008, that is late spring or early summer 2008.

A big thanks to Charlie Shaughnessy for noting this video. Another brief solo Don Lappin did for an upcoming instructional DVD that Don is filming. I love this guys tone and style!

Don Lappin has confirmed that he is still in the filming stages of his upcoming DVD. The original plan was to have i ready for the summer, but it looks like it's heading for a third quarter release, or as the Americans say...by fall. This should provide a good insight to Don's version of two handed playing and will be a great video for those looking extend their playing into land of two hands. I'll keep ou posted with any snippets along the way.

Background:
Don has been playing guitar since the age of seven and started playing professionally at age 11! His band was voted one of the top 10 original acts in the state of Ohio. Don attended Berklee College of Music in January of 1990. He left and became a full time guitar instructor, gigging in Minneapolis before moving back to the Boston. He finally got a degree at Berklee, graduating "summa cum laude" with a Bachelor's degree in performance.

Don is now a faculty member at Berklee since 1994 (Guitar Summer Sessions and 5-week program) and now teaches guitar for the guitar department year round.

For fans of TJ Helmerich (EG interview) and other fusion players, I recommend viewing the awesome two handed styling on his fine lines video (mov 16Mb) from Dons' site. I can't wait to see or buy a DVD of his playing in the future such is the quality of his playing. You can also check out Don's EP "Fine lines" , a CD which is a four-song release featuring Joe Santerre (Jon Finn Group) on bass. Brilliant!

Check out his web site for a full bio, videos and music.

  1. This is going to sound like I'm 14-years-old, but...

They better they get, the gayer they sound.

    =) Kidding. This guy's great.

I just don't see why experts often like cheesy sounds.

    See ya,

    Jason
