Background:
Matthias Sorof born in Gifhorn, Germany. He studied Educational Science in Braunschweig. He also studied Musicology in Göttingen and studies the basics of Composition with Professor Dr. Dieter Salbert.

Matthias Sorof has been working since 1978 on counterpoint tapping studies and compositions, and worked on hid own technique for tapped guitar since the early 1980's using a Chapman Stick. Since 1990 he has worked on "Tapboard-Style" for the Guitar.

CD projects include, 1988 Solo LP "Mathias Sorof - Stick Solo with compositions for stick solo, tapping guitar and soprano and stick duo. In 1989 première "Neue Lieder" for Soprano and Stick Duo at the festival Jazz and Klassik in Wolfsburg. Then in 1990 première of the composition "Jotunheimen" for synthesiser-ensemble and Chapman stick
at the 9. synthesiser-festival in Braunschweig. Later relases include 2003 CD-Release "Allegorien des Lebens - ZwischenHell und Dunkel/Mathias Sorof Projects". For more information about video and mp3 or CD's visit Matthias Sorof's web site.
