Guitar 9 work on a credit crunch buster:
My wife was saying to me the other day, "We need more users. We have great articles, great columns, cutting edge music, wonderful instructional products and timely advice on recording, guitar playing, starting a band, etc." I jokingly shot back, "Maybe we should give away our ad money if they register on the site and check out what we have to offer - that $5 a day doesn't go as far as it used to..." It was supposed to be a joke.

Well, the truth is, $5 is five bucks. It doesn't go that far, but it doesn't really do anything for Guitar Nine Records. And the economy is really bad right now - people need help. And, she's right - having more users and visitors would be great. So, I'll tell you what, someone, somewhere will get that $5. I don't want it anymore.

There's not many sites on the Internet giving away free money, even small amounts, for doing absolutely nothing except explaining why they want it, but I don't have any problem with it.

Starting on Groundhog Day, 2009 (February 2, 2009 for those outside the U.S.A.), Guitar Nine Records will give away a tax-free, $5 cash gift each day, every day (until I run out of money to give) to the person we think should get it. And (to make it easier for me) you need to have a PayPal account, so I can easily transfer the money to you, at no cost.

Just click the button below, which will take you to a form to register for the gift; tell me why you want the $5. Each day I'll sort though all the submissions I've received so far, and give $5 to the person I think should have it - maybe your story makes me laugh, maybe it makes me cry, maybe it makes me think - I don't think it takes much to make me do any of those things. Since I don't like to read much, there is a 1000 character limit on your answer, so be consice and to-the-point!

Beginning on February 2, I'll pick the one I like the most each day, and send $5 from the Guitar Nine Records PayPal account directly to the chosen recipient's PayPal account (don't have a PayPal account? I think everyone in the world has one already. But if not, personal accounts are free, you can sign up with the link below. Do this before registering). I can't think of a way to make it any easier than that.

If you are already registered with us, and signed on, your information should already appear below. One request permitted per registered user only (submitting a second request will overwrite the first request).

Once I have a list of initial recipients, I will have a page dedicated to them. Recipients agree to have only their name and location (city and state or country) published on that page.

The money is a gift. Tax-free. Think of it as a recession-buster.
