Frank Gambale: acoustic dvd review

One of the most interesting aspects of this release is that is gives fans a chance to see and hear Gambale play on the acoustic guitar. While he is mainly known for his electric playing, especially with Chick Corea’s band, Gambale does not seem out of place with the more subtle tones of the acoustic guitar. All of Gambale’s characteristic sounds are here, the long lightening-fast runs, sweep picking, complex scale pattern, and advanced harmonic substitutions, with the acoustic guitar adding a nice sonic change to Gambale’s normally electric sound.
