Joe Satriani: coldplay case settled out of court.

Guitarist Joe Satriani's lawsuit against Coldplay, based on his accusation that Chris Marin and co plagiarised his 2004 song 'If I Could Fly' for their 2008 single 'Viva La Vida', has been dismissed from court.

Satriani sued the band last December, seeking a jury trial to award him monetary compensation.

Now, according to News.justia.com, the case was dismissed yesterday (September 14) in California Central District Court "upon stipulation", suggesting that an out-of-court settlement may have been reached.

Judge Dean Pregerson decreed that both the parties bear their own trial costs as the case was closed.

I would have preferred that both parties release the track with Joe's guitar solo mashed up with Coldplay's lyrics and all money go to charity...
