What a terrific solo! Perhaps my favorite ever, although i change my mind on a weekly basis.
Don Felder and Joe Walsh are so tight its unreal! I learned this solo years back, i loved to play it so much because it used my favorite technique in excess... STRING BENDING!! getting these bends just right is very tricky indeed.
My favorite lyric in the song is 'warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air'. I believe colitas is Spanish for 'little buds' implying that they are smoking weed!
Also 'they stab it with there steely knifes'. this is a tip of the hat to Steely Dan who i think did a similar tip of the hat the eagles in one of there songs
I believe in the original the 2 guitars being used for the solo are a Gibson Les Paul and a Fender strat (or perhaps a tele) with an MXR Phase 90 infront of the amp.
I used the Hagstrom directly in the Boss BR1200
