I'm a guitarist currently based in Leeds available for gigs, sessions and tuition.
I started playing guitar at the age of 12, taking classical guitar lessons for a year, but soon switched to rock guitar lessons which lasted over a year. As a musician, I have experience playing in a variety of styles from rock and pop to jazz. I have led bands of my own performing my own compositions, as well as playing an integral role in a variety of cover bands playing pop and rock tunes. I am currently fronting my own jazz trio alongside my highly skilled colleagues Tom Weatley and Harry Pope on Bass and Drums respectively. I've also had the great privilege of performing alongside pros including Stan Tracy, Mornington Lockett, Dorian Lockett and Andrea Vicari.
I also have experience playing in pit bands for musicals which include, The Wall (Pink Floyd), Rent, The Threepenny Opera, Joseph and the Techni-colour Dream coat among numerous others. I currently hold the post as guitarist in the Hertfordshire Youth Jazz Ensemble (HYJE) which I have held for 2 years.
I have experience as a teacher having spent between 2006-2009 as a guitar tutor employed by TheMusicLab in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, as well as some private teaching. I am currently available for private lessons, Email: michaelkdesouza@hotmail.com if you are interested.
