News: Abstract Logix fusion festival... time to get your tickets!

Abstract Logix is proud to announce its first-ever festival event, the New Universe Music Festival, to take place at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina on November 20th and 21st, 2010. A diehard music lovers’ dream, the festival’s roster boasts an array of artists who handily defy genre categorization in favor if unbridled expression – all of whom seamlessly mingle compositional ingenuity and improvisational grace and fervor. So far, the list of confirmed performers includes iconic fusion guitarist John McLaughlin and his current band the 4th Dimension, master drummer Lenny White, the all-star quartet Human Element (keyboardist Scott Kinsey, bassist Matt Garrison, percussionist Arto Tunçboyaciyan), fearless guitarist and improviser Wayne Krantz, Widespread Panic/Dead guitarist Jimmy Herring (who will also be performing with Lenny White’s band), and Visionary Indian composer and drummer Ranjit Barot and emerging guitar visionary Alex Machacek. http://www.abstractlogix.com/festival2010/

“The idea behind the festival,” explains New Universe Festival curator and Abstract Logix founder Souvik Dutta, “is to present some truly legendary artists alongside some rising new voices that were originally inspired by those masters. This is serious music, performed by accomplished artists, but it is also very spontaneous and fun. By bringing it all together as a festival, we hope to create an all-encompassing experience that will inspire both the audience and the performers.”

“I feel honored to be asked to participate,” says festival headliner John McLaughlin who will be on his much anticipated North American Tour. “My life has been dedicated to my instrument and music, and I continue to devote myself to music in order to be worthy of such a privilege. You will hear the kind of complicity that exists between us all – this is a very special element, and frankly essential for making good music.”

Tickets are $37 and $57 for individual days and $90 for a festival pass, and are available through the Lincoln Theatre Website. more
