Derryl Gabel: The end of registration for the Dweezilla Music Masters Camp is fast approaching.

Just wanted to send a reminder out. If you missed my last email, here's what's going on.
I'm very pleased to announce that I will be teaching at the Dweezilla Music Masters Camp the week of July 4th in upstate New York. Besides myself, Dweezil Zappa has hand selected some of the best and brightest guitarist in the world to teach there as well. This includes the amazing Tom Quayle, Oz Noy, Dave Walliman, and Chris Buono. I am very honored to be among this caliber of teachers and players. If you are interested in joining us for a fun filled guitar learning experience please go to

Dweezil has asked all the instructors to hand in a tune for an album that will be released on Steve Vai's label, Favored Nations. We are about half way through the project. I'm very excited with the results so far. Each player will guest solo on the other's tune so this will be very interesting. The tunes that have been submitted thus far are top notch. I'm very pleased with the way my tune is turning out and I think you all will be as well. Thus far, James Santiago handed in a tune that reminds me of something that would have been on the great Garsed Helmerich Exempt album. Dave Walliman's tune is grooving hard with futuristic sounds, (check out his youtube channel for his song diary), Dweezil's tune is an adventure that even Indiana Jones would find hard to keep up with. My tune kind of reminds me of Holdsworth's Zarabeth meets Tokyo Dream but maybe not as cool haha! My friend, guitar virtuoso and composer Chanan Hanspal, played keys and synth on the tune which put a Chick Corea flare to it. He might be doing a guest solo on it as well.

Lastly I would like to share something that happened recently. About five months ago I noticed the sales of my DVDs start to drop off in a dramatic way. After a couple weeks I did a search on the internet and found that someone had uploaded my 14 pack on a file sharing site. There was approximately 20,000 downloads at that time. Fortunately I was able to get it removed from the site. I did some investigating and found there was no legal action I could take to make a long story short. I wanted to thank you all for doing the right thing and purchasing my DVDs. I thank you and my family thanks you. I would ask if my DVDs have helped you become a better player I hope you tell your friends about it, post it on forums, facebook, etc... This would really help and my family and I would greatly appreciate it.

I hope to see you all at Dweezilla.

Best regards,
Derryl Gabel
