Troy Stetina: tonefreqs interview Troy as feature artist

In our interview with Troy, he talks about how influences like Bach, Beethoven, and Vivaldi helped him establish his understanding of guitar, and become the musician he is today. We also discuss everything from when he first started playing music on a clarinet, to some of his very exciting upcoming projects. Oh, and we had a chance to discuss his playing, gear, and of course, his TONE.
Here’s what Troy had to say.
You started playing guitar at the age of 12. Did you play any other instruments prior to that?
Yes. I was in the school band. My parents owned a clarinet, and since I was interested in music, they said “oh, well, here’s your instrument.” [laughs]. It wasn’t my choice, but, it was that, or don’t play an instrument. I played through Junior High School where I also learned to read music. My mom bought me a guitar after a couple years of playing clarinet, and then I started to play more rock music. Back when I started playing, of course, there was no tab transcription. It didn’t exist. So I learned everything by ear.
